Determination and following the training plan

Not every day when you have planned to workout you will feel like it. Over the last few weeks I had conversations in my head:

“It’s raining, storm and freezing and I’m tired after work, surely I can skip training tonight and instead cover up in bed with a good book and a cup of tea?”

“I’m in a crap mood because I woke up at 9am by the alarm on my weekend and don’t want to train!”

We all will have thoughts like this, especially during this dark and cold time of the year when the weather isn’t great in this part of the world.

Did I listen to my inner complaining self and skip training? No I didn’t! I followed through with my training plan and as a result I was achieving PB in deadlifts and I ran faster than usual on some days.

It’s really great to have the support and encouragement from my training buddies and trainers and it’s so motivating to workout with people that are better than me as that makes me want to work harder to be stronger and better. However, I use my Sundays to give myself extra time to work on my weaknesses. There is an excellent Calisthenics Workout Park in Primrose Hill which is free, and after a warm-up jog it’s fantastic to spend 30 minutes intensely building up strength where I can currently improve. As there is no time constraint I can take the time I need to do my chin-ups, pull-ups, push-ups, monkey bars, core work, lunges and squats and then run back home.

As I run Toughest 2016 with Team Basefit I’m more determined than ever to follow through with my training plan and turn my weaknesses in to strengths and fight through all obstacles in my everyday life to reach my goal! It’s not too late to sign up for Toughest and join our team!
