Meet Clara, BaseFit Member, Adventure Junky and all round fitness fanatic!

Originally from Sweden, Clara now lives in London. Balancing a busy job at Expedia with an active social life Clara has decided to add yet another challenge to her impressive record, London Toughest!
Over the next few months we are going to be following Clara’s journey to Toughest. Clara will be taking over our blog to share the good, the bad and the ugly. From her experiences, training, challenges and successes. So if you want to know what it takes to be a Toughest Champion make sure you don’t miss it…..
So over to Clara:
“I have to admit, I live for challenges! May it be anything from being able to do unassisted chin-ups to run marathons and climb Kilimanjaro. All my life I have had goals to strive for, and last year it was to run my first obstacle course race (OCR), Nuclear Rush. Although I stopped drinking alcohol for 4,5 months, went to Basefit twice a week for Muddy race prep sessions and went running 10km on the weekends I struggled and felt I could be better prepared for the 12km 80 obstacles race. This year I will change tactics!
2016 is starting off in full speed and I had 3 challenges and achievements to fulfill. One down. Two to go.
1. Run Star Wars Rebel Challenge at Disneyland California (10km on the Saturday and a half marathon on the Sunday)
2. To be able to do 10 unassisted chin-ups in a row
3. To survive Toughest and complete all the obstacles
Rebel Challenge is accomplished and my times were the best I've ran in 10 years!
This summer Basefit drilled me in doing chin-ups and one day after 1,5 months I did 4 in a row and was gobsmacked! Then I stopped, and now I have to start from 1, but let's do this before Toughest! That will help!
Toughest London 2016. After having focused on long distance running the last three months I am now determined to keep up my running but switch it up with strength training! This way I will stay motivated as training won't be so monotonous. I have moved to Kings Cross which is exactly 4km from Basefit and perfect running distance! So two days in a row I ran to Basefit and back (8km in total each day) arriving right in time for tough sessions with Dejan. This is going to be my new routine to keep the running up but build important muscles too. In an OCR you need both.
To get routines during the weekend too I'm discussing with my Basefit friends about running from Kings Cross to Primrose Hill Workout Park to workout together at the calisthenics workout area to be able to push each other and work on those skills needed in an OCR. My biggest challenge I reckon will be rope climbing. But if there is a will, there is hope.
I am so ready for this next challenges and team Basefit need more runners for Toughest! Will you join me in this adventure? “
